Beyond Symptom Suppression: Harnessing Psychedelic Insights for Mental Health
Brian Richards, PsyD, is a licensed Clinical Psychologist. He's a faculty affiliated investigator at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he works on states of consciousness research at the Behavioral Pharmacology Research Institute. He completed a Master’s degree in Existential-Phenomenological Psychology, a PsyD for Professional Psychology, and a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Behavioral Pharmacology Research Unit (now the Center for Psychedelic and Consciousness Research), where he contributed to the original research administering psilocybin with cancer patients and healthy adults.
Dr. Richards also teaches students at the California Institute for Integral Studies, the leading Psychedelic Medicine Certificate Program worldwide. He was a Lead Psychologist on an innovative, simultaneous group administration high-dose psilocybin trial with cancer patients. Dr. Richard’s clinical and research interests include meaning-centered psychotherapy, mystical experience, and brain science-based approaches to wellness.
